Sometimes technology hinders people from really communicating with one another. You know, instead of visiting, we call. Instead of calling, we text. Instead of texting, we “Like”. But most of the time, technology can be really awesome. It connects you to people that you’ve lost touch with. Recently I was contacted by my long time elementary school friend Erica Cruz. Yes, Erica Cruz! You know, in elementary school when everyone knew each other by their first and last name? And then some kids’ names just sounded better when you called them by their first and last name. Well, that is what is was like with Erica Cruz. Here name just flowed so we called her that for-like-ever. When she found me on Facebook I couldn’t have been happier. Erica was one of those girls that made everyone feel great. She was a mamma bear. She would look out for you, share her lunch, and let you know when the ball was gonna hit you smack in the head (Yes, we played softball together and I was her catcher).
Erica is now Erica Moreno and a soon to be mother of two. She is still a great momma bear. I could see that the love she shares with her daughter will immediately pour over to her future son, Jacob. As a surprise Valentine’s Day gift to her husband, Erica decided to do a mini Maternity shoot of her and her daughter. How sweet is that? I am so excited for my elementary school friend, Erica Cruz, oops I mean, Erica Moreno. Congratulations to your precious growing family. Oh and your daughter, what a cutie pa-to-tee!
Love her baby bump!
These girls are definitely “Pretty in Pink”
Hearts are perfect for a ‘lil Valentine love.Erica, you are gorge!
Elianna is going to be a perfect big sister!
Her beautiful personality and looks are glowing.
So adorable.
Lately, I’ve noticed that these chilly afternoons and crisp mornings have created some of the most ah-maze-ing colors in the sky. For some reason I just get lost in their beauty. The colors seem to calm my mood. Whatever life may throw at me that day fades aways with one gaze at the water-colored like sky. Then, I stop and remember how grateful I am to be alive and take these wonderful afternoon walks with my family. Life is beautiful for sure! Enjoy your hump day:)
February has become one of my new favorite months. During this month, pink is everywhere. I love it! Pink just makes me happy. Don’t judge my girly ways, just accept them please. Then comes the big love day itself. I’m a sucker for romance (my husband knows he better bring his A game every year). Now, there is a whole other reason to heart the month of love…because of this lil guy down here. Take a look. Move over Mr. G. There is a new guy in town and he makes my hear melt with just a kiss. My baby is so incredibly lovable I cannot resist his devious gummy grin.
This handsome little fella is now my new Valentine.
“I’m saying cheese mama. Now can I play?”
I spy two tootsies behind the balloons.
This is either his seductive look or are we done yet look? I love it either way!Studio time.
Happy LOVE month everyone!!!
Photography, for me, is a way to capture memories at just the perfect moment. I can’t get this time back but I can freeze an image with my camera so it will be in my heart forever. I also use photography as a creative outlet. I try to incorporate fabric, crafts, and pretty things I find. So when my son was born, I wanted to remember exactly the way he looked at each stage of his first year. I also wanted to glam it up so I could admire the images and display them in our home. I know I’m not the only mommy that wants their baby to look like a gerber model AND to have the background look like their baby was just lounging around Martha Stewart’s Home in The Hamptons. Is that really to much to ask? I think not. So I try to make my baby look adorable and the background Martha Stewart approved every time I create a photo shoot. I decided to take a picture of my baby every month wearing a onesie and sitting at the same spot in the same chair . How did I make it look pretty for me? Well, I sat him on my damask chair. And who doesn’t love damask, right? I thought the pattern and colors would make his peachy skin and light brown hair stand out. And it did! I am so glad I started and almost completed this photography project. He is eleven months now. Only one more month to capture my last photo of him on my favorite chair. One more month until he is no longer an infant. One more month until we have made it through the first year. One more month until the big ONE!
I love my beautiful, beautiful, beautiful boy.
11 months and I couldn’t just take one picture. Those thighs. Ahh!
My baby at one to ten months starting from top left to bottom right.
Love is… all warm and fuzzy like a comforter straight out of the dryer. It has that special warmth to make you feel safe and it smothers the cold right out from under your toes. Watching love grow is another snuggly security blanket because it reminds me that love is wonderful, magical, and beautiful with every relationship. I’ve been watching a true love affair unfold right before my eyes. And, no, not a Brad Pitt and Angelina affair, but a Noah and Allie type (from ‘The Notebook’). The kind of relationship that is going to last forever. After laughing, hugging, and just plain hanging out with two of my favorite people, my best friend and her boyfriend, I had the honor of witnessing another amazing moment in their love affair, their proposal. Yes, I said it. I had a front row seat to my best friend’s surprise proposal. Marco, her newly fiance, asked me to photograph this momentous event. He wanted me to capture his love for the girl he wants to be with for the rest of his life, Lisett. “Yes, yes, yes,” I replied. I was so extatic that for a moment I felt like I was being proposed to. I couldn’t believe I kept this ginormous secret for like ever. Five whole days feels like an eternity when the person you tell your juiciest secrets to is off limits. So I did what any amazing best friend would do- start mentally planing the wedding for her. Well, I don’t want her to get behind on any of the details (ahem…the bride’s maids dresses). Before I knew it…
the afternoon had arrived and I found myself pacing here.
I wanted to make sure Lisett and Marco had memories of the details from that afternoon at the Santa Monica Pier.
Marco was very cool and collective in his casual blazer, white button-up shirt, and blue jeans. Lisett looked beautiful as always with her Treseme-like hairdo and perfeclty pedicured toes.
Little did she know that the cartoonist was in on Marco’s surprise proposal. But what was he drawing?
Marco is either so excited that Lisett has no clue, or he is just a camera ham. Ha!
See what I mean, true love.Waiting.
He is definitely trying to distract her from peeking at this…
Marco you are a sly one…wait for it.
And her first reaction to the knee hitting the pavement. Priceless.I was so excited my hands were shaking.
Let me introduce you to the future Mr. & Mrs. Guzman.
After they had a ‘lil mini shoot with the artist that helped make Lisett’s dreams come true.
One more for the scrapbook. Oh didn’t you know Lisett was an avid scrapbooker?
L is for the way you look at me…O is for the only one I see. Sorry but every time I hear wedding bells I think of ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’. Hey, and this actually will be my best friend’s wedding. Double ha!
I had to end with this incredibly touching moment of Lisett and her mommy embracing and rejoicing with tears of happiness.
Here is a lil’ hint of what’s coming up in my life and the ones I love. Yesterday I took this photo at the Santa Monica Pier during a surprise engagement shoot for my best friend. This picture also just happens to be one of the details in my son’s first birthday party coming up this February. Crazy Twilight Zone coincidence? I think so. Wowzers!
