Sam. Graduation 2012. UCLA

Eating pizza. Playing some ball. Lounging with a guitar. These are real examples of what a college undergraduate guy does between classes. Of course you also have to get your study on. So typically, guys just like to hit the books in between watching or playing basketball. If you can’t find Sam buried under a bunch of pizza boxes, you’ll sure find him buried under the books in the library, because Sam is a true male scholar. That’s right, he’s a smart one who has some real pressure to succeed if you ask me. He is the eldest out of four and a second generation Bruin. This means he has to be a major role model and take it up a notch to fill his dad’s shoes. Well, he is right on his way to do just that. Sam is finishing up his bachelors degree in History and plans on becoming an accountant. Personally, Sam is a pretty cool dude if you ask me. He’s a tad on the shy side but can make any girl swoon after he flashes his pearly whites, especially my sister Gens, his girlfriend.

Sam and Gens met at UCLA and have been dating for a while. But you know, dating in college is kinda of like Hollywood, anything over one month is solid. So, this cute couple wanted to also take some lovey dovey couple shots. I thought it was sweet. Go ahead take a look!

Congratulations Sam, you are the man!

Oh the life!

A little studly, aren’t we?

Pondering his future.
Chillin’
Watch out…here comes the swoon machine!

Seriously! Now it’s time for the couple grad sesh.
What a guy!Young love!

I guess I will write this, but only because she’s my sister.

U-C-L-A Fight, Fight, Fight!

Gens. Graduation 2012. UCLA.

Congratulations little sister! Although you chose to attend the “other” Southern California University, I still love, respect, and admire your hard work and dedication. I see greatness in you. As you know, ambition is what will lead you to accomplish any goal your heart desires. You are a winner! Continue to strive until you reach your mountain top. Then, take a moment to look out at the goodness and continue to thrive on to bigger and better dreams. Cheers sisto, I love you!!!

Buddies. Whittier.

Buddies, pals, amigos all are synonymous of the word friend. These two little fellows were destined to be buds before they could even holler “mama!” Their mommies were friends before wedding bells rang, before bellies started bulging, and way before Britax became the new “it” brand. So, it’s only natural that this relationship is meant to last forever. Our boys are growing up fast, so of course to freeze these precious moments in time I thought I’d snap a few photos of how real boys play!

Baby E, thirteen months, is walking.  Baby C, eight months, ready to join the fun…only a few more months and they’ll be chasing each other.
“What’s it like way up there?”“Goonies never say die!”

What a smile this kid has got on him! I adore this photo! I tried to make it look a little more rugged. Well they are boys, ya know!
This is his Tyrannosaurus Rex walk:)

“Hey, you are wearing my shirt!”

Our ‘lil old men.
Wow, who knew we were so hilarious?A little boy action!

Just lean on me brother…

Spring Shoot. USC.

Spring is in the air and I’m loving every bit of it. Why do I love spring so much? Well, it’s only the best time of the year for a birthday. And since it’s only days away from mine, I thought I would treat myself to an extra long photo shoot of my number one guy.  I know, I know, but I just can’t help myself. We spent the day at USC and I took like a million and one pictures.  We also visited one of my dearest friends and she joined in the picture taking fun as well. Please don’t let all this cuteness overwhelm you! Book a spring session of your own! Happy Spring!

He loves to walk all by himself.
This picture was inspired by the fabulous Jasmine Star, from our engagement session.
Hello everybody!Someone taught him how to smell flowers. I just want to know who taught him how to eat them after?
On the go!Why so serious?

Life is like a box of chocolates….
I want to eat these toes!Student body left.
Student body right.
Trojan boy.
Svea, you make us happy when skies are gray (even though it’s gorgeous outside you still made it a little brighter).
Thank you for taking a couple of photos of just the three of us.
No, it wasn’t laundry day. Each colored shirt represented a different form of abuse someone has been exposed to or witnessed.

He really is itty bitty!
Really couldn’t get enough of all the perfect little peep holes.

Happy Early Birthday To Me

It’s that time again…you know when you feel a little anxious because you’re turning a year older. That means another candle, ahhhh! Right around 27 I started to feel this way. My stomach would turn every time I thought about reaching that deadliest of deadly ages. The age where you might as well run inside, hide under the covers, and scream until you cry. Well that year has come and gone for me and really I haven’t felt better! I have been blessed with so many beautiful people in my life that I can’t wait to celebrate another year of my life with them. Really! I know it’s typical, but age ain’t nothin’ but a numba! And what better place to celebrate like a rockstar? Well, in Vegas of course! Some of my family and friends decided to join me on yet another Sin City adventure. I am happy to say it was a success. I had a blast and brought my camera with me to show you what happens in photo booths in Vegas do not stay in photo booths, Ha!

Many many years ago I learned from my momma that it is better to give than receive. So, I make sure that every time I have my people help me celebrate a special occasion I give them a little something in return. Below are also some snaps of the goodies that I put together for the girls that joined me over the weekend.

Neon is totally hip, right?
Packed all these goodies to keep us entertained while we were getting our tan on!

What Makes Me Happy. Meee. Palm Springs.

Life is complicated. It usually isn’t complicated because we have difficult situations. Rather, life is this way because we “think” it is. We imagine, we assume and we totally take people’s actions or non-verbal cues the wrong way. We often over analyze things people have said or not said and done or not done, so far beyond it’s actual meaning, that we get lost in the intensity of our emotions and it can destroy our perception of reality or the situation. I just hate when this happens. I can’t stand when I start to over analyze. Whether it is in work, family, love, or friendships, I go through a process that I’m sure most of us all do too (well at least us girls). Eventually anger leads to frustration, which leads to more anger, then resentment and finally sadness. Recently I’ve been trying to focus on just accepting that it’s not me. It’s my thoughts that control my life and I need to whip those babies into check. I am in control and what I say goes. So I say, Be happy! Live life as it’s your last (but really). Enjoy what make you happy. Appreciate the good in everything (work, love, family, friends). Instead of giving up on something or someone I’ve decided I’m going to put more love and effort toward those things. Waving that white flag is just weakness and shows lack of character, lack or self-worth and total lack of kindness.I am not that. I am strong, caring, and motivated. A complicated life is an unhappy one. I’m posting this quote that I found on Pinterest because I think it sums up what I’ve rambled on and on about into a perfect little blurb. And what makes me happy besides my family and friends is photography. I love capturing the present. Photography does not complicate things, it only makes me happy that I can share my talent with others.

Below are photos taken from our little trip to Palm Springs last weekend. I love me some Palm Spings!:)

Sood & Patel Family. Family. Simi Valley.

Young couples turn into Mr. and Mrs. Mr. and Mrs. have children. Children grow and become adults. Then press repeat. Families are like wine, they get better with age. As time goes on, families grow and celebrate all the love and joy they have for each other. The Sood and Patel families wanted to capture just this. Mr. Sood (father) and Priya (daughter) shared a wonderful moment this past month. Mr. Sood turned sixty and Priya turned thirty on the same day. How awesome is that? They wanted to express this celebration of LIFE with a family photo shoot that would honor both of their special occasions as well as the new addition to the family tree, Vikram and Sangini’s Baby Sid. Priya and her brother, Vikram thought it was perfect timing (especially since they live hundreds of miles apart) to capture their family, right now, in the present, loving each other and celebrating another year of life together. I think every family should photograph as many special occasions as possible. I’m glad the  families know life is too short not to take advantage of freezing moments like these so they can share them with the generations to come.

I had so much fun getting to know both of your families. You made me feel confident and kept me laughing.  That is all I need to give any family a thumb’s up! Thank you for allowing me to help you celebrate your birthdays!

Here, they were laughing and I was laughing. Basically all of us were trying to keep a straight face because grandpa Soodwas just too darn hilarious when he was trying to carry (without covering his face) his prize possession, Baby Sid.

Beautiful on the inside and outside!

One of the best kind of love comes from a mother.

They love their dad. They love to make him laugh too!

Happy sixtieth birthday! Anyone would be blessed to reach sixty and share this kind of affection!

Every mother should have a photo of her taken just like this one. One that represents the pure happiness of motherhood. The Sood’s and Patel’s getting silly. I love it!

Priya and Kavit

You make thirty look amazing! The other Sood couple:)

I heart her eyes! Just beautiful!Vikram, Sangini and Baby Sid
Those cheeks and that outfit…ahh! The family had mentioned to me that Mr. Sood had a picture taken like this when he was a young man. They wanted me to help them recreate it with his first grandson and then son to show the family’s three generations. Priceless and precious!
