Melody & Richard. Maternity. Orange County Maternity Photographer.

Hey Jude, you are going to be one good looking little fella from the top of your head to the bottoms of your souls. Jude’s parent’s, Melody and Richard, are a beautiful couple and have their own creative twist to their fun and flirty style. Melody is super sweet so it was unfortunate that she was in a lot of pain when I first met with her.  Melody has been suffering through some wicked morning sickness (or as I like to call it, all-day sickness) and a lot of discomfort while walking. Wouldn’t you have aches and pains if you had an itty bitty frame like her? While we planned out her maternity session, she gently stated that she wanted to keep it very conservative and simple. And you know what they say about simple? “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication…” or so I’ve pinned on pinterest. Well, I thought perfect!  Although I’m a bit of a prop junkie, I also think simple is very classic.

The afternoon of our photo session I was a bit nervous because I didn’t want Melody to feel discomfort during the time I would be photographing her. I crossed my fingers and just hoped for the best. However, when I met Richard, Melody’s husband, I immediately felt more at ease in getting her in and out of poses because he was so gentle. They were just perfect together. As I started the session, I was like “Whoa!” Their love for one another was so flirty and genuine that it seemed as if I was photographing their engagement session or an Abercrombie and Fitch advertisement. No joke! I loved every bit of passion and love that oozed into my lens. Although Melody didn’t use any props besides my vintage green bucket chair, she added her own personality with the cutest accessories and outfits that she had planned for her and Richard. And to my surprise, she allowed her cute little belly to peek through this amazing one-of-a-kind fringed lace top. When I saw that top I knew we had to chit chat it up about our love for vintage finds and thrift shopping! Baby Jude is seriously going to be a stunna and one well-threaded gent!

Melody and Richard you guys are too adorable for words! Thank you for allowing me to photograph your love for each other and your new little family. Here’s some more oozing love.

See…so loving it just makes the images that more intamate.Melody wanted me to get the cute little writing on her finger. It said, “Hey Jude.” I think someone is a Beatles fan! This one right here is my favorite!Pretty belly!Whoa! Love it!Look at how cute they look.

Melissa & Larry. Baby Shower Photo Booth. Los Angles Lifestyle Photographer.

I get excited for every kind of photo booth for so many reasons. However, I’m a bit biased when it comes to the photo booths I create. Sure vintage and class strip photo booths are great for any event, but one: there is a limited amount of space (probably only enough to fit my husband’s head), two: you get the basic blue/red or black and white background, and three: there is no personalization whatsoever. Yes, I know you are thinking the digital ones have the couples name on the bottom with a cute little design attached. Don’t get me wrong I’m totally not bashing regular photo booths. I love me some four-photo strip action going on at a wedding or fair. BUT, like I mentioned before I’m biased and I love how I can help you personalize your backdrop and props so you can fit more then three heads in a box and give your party some photo fun! Also, I think it would be pretty difficult to fit a cute little preggie mama’s tummy in a classic photo booth.

Melissa and Larry gave me creative permission to design a vintage- themed photo booth for their baby shower. Larry  and Melissa were ecstatic when they found out they were having a boy. Instantaneously Larry knew he wanted some sort of homage to his favorite team, the Dodgers. Now, how could they go wrong with that? Go Dodgers! So vintage +baseball + Dodgers = a pin stripped backdrop with a pennant that revealed their baby boy’s name to their family and friends. I brought along a vintage baseball bat, more meaningful pennants, a letter letter “A” for Andrew (not for Angels, sorry Angels fans) covered with baseballs, and a few baseball shaped whiteboards to write some personalized messages to baby Andrew and family.

Congratulations Larry and Melissa I know Andrew is going to be one awesome slugger!
The black and whites were my favorite. They reminded me of one of my all-time favorite baseball movies, A league of Their Own. I can hear Madonna singing  right now.

Lisett and Marco. Save the Date. Los Angeles Lifestyle Photographer.

You gotta love, Love. Everything about the excitement of entering a new phase of love is heartwarming. Wether it’s a new relationship, a proposal, or a new birth, love will holla out, “That’s right, I’m glowing.” I think I’m a pretty lucky gal to be able to witness and capture all sorts of different kinds of love. Each family, couple, child is special and unique in their own way. They exhibit their love for each other totally different too. I think I’m doubly lucky because I was honored to photograph my best friend’s surprise proposal a few months ago and now I’m capturing photos for her save-the-date.

Lisett and Marco wanted to go back to where he proposed, the Santa Monica Pier, to relive the moment and make new memories in order to capture the perfect image for their save-the-date announcement. Lisett, of course, was completely prepared and had all sorts of ideas up her sleeve. You have got to check out the vibrant colors that just popped up everywhere…it was like the pier knew we were there to make magic!

Thank you friends for allowing me to continue to witness and document your love. I can’t wait ’till 5-18-2013!

Check out their Slideshow

See I told ya…fun and fabulous colors to match this fun and fabulous couple!

Erica. Maternity. Los Angeles Maternity Photographer.

Erica and I met in grad school at USC. Fight On! She is a total sweetheart and has one of those cute and contagious giggles, so I knew we would have a blast at her maternity session. Erica and her husband Joe, will be expecting their first child, a girl, on October 1st. I am so excited for them because it’s their first little sweet pea. I am also very honored to be able to document their maternity shoot. Erica’s husband, Joe, has been struggling with cancer for a couple of years now, so I really wanted to make this maternity session extra special for the both of them. Extra special in a way that Erica and Joe’s love for one another will be conveyed not just by what they wore or how they smiled, but through the gleam in their eyes that represents the positive outlook they have today and for the new chapter in their lives.

Erica and her husband wanted to have their maternity shoot somewhere with lots of greenery. So, what the mama-to-be wants is what the mama gets! We found a lovely spot in L.A. and then moved to an extraordinarily enchanted forest-like trail a couple of miles down the block. Erica also wanted to go all out! She had tons of outfit changes ready and was willing to literally jump on any rock or tree to get the perfect shot. It’s great when mama’s are feisty, like myself, and will almost do “extreme posing” for the shot. Okay I did get a little nervous when I turned around and she was already on a 6-foot ledge. We all laughed but those are the memories I love to make with my future mommies, at our shoots.

Congratulations my zesty little mama! Thank you for trusting me with your beautiful belly! I can’t wait to see your darling baby girl at our newborn session. I’m ultra excited to doll her up in all the bows, pink poofs, and pastel headbands that I have made. Joe and Jia thanks for being troopers-FIGHT ON family! Here’s a slideshow with some more pics.

Umm, I love Joe’s look here. Yup, he adores her!Erica and Joe also wanted their doggie, Jia, to be apart of their photo shoot. You are breathtaking my dear, simply breathtaking.I found my favorite. The light was so magical and perfect at this exact spot and time. She looks stunning!
Here is where she jumped up an extremely high wall, but I’m so glad she did. Her belly against this red trunk looks amazing!I think Jia could me a doggie model for sure. Look at this family shot. Perfection!
Thank you, thank you for showing your belly in these next shots. These images are so feminine and beautiful.Okay I’m going to cheat. This is my second favorite. hehehee …and here is what the cute giggle looks like…sorry, you can’t hear it.

Marissa. Back-to-School. Sr. Year.

Marissa, or as I like to call her  Mimi, will soon venture into the nail-bitting, hair-pulling, and mind-numbing senior year. Yes, my second youngest sister will be class of 2013. Wowzas! I mean I remember when she was a curlycue in diapers, and now she’s growing into a young brilliant lady…(tear). Proud is an understatement when I think of my little chick-a-dee. She is truly a book worm and boy has it paid off. This girl can read a 700-page novel in an afternoon, no joke. Her reading and study skills have helped her attain her re-don-cu-lous G.P.A. and S.A.T scores. By the way, is it just me or does anyone else know that they aren’t out of 1600 anymore? I guess that goes to show my age, whaaa! Well I’m crossing my fingers, knocking on wood, and praying that she will get into her school of choice.. Can you tell I”m just a little obsessed with her academia, but that’s what big sisters do…stalk!

Good luck sister and I love you. I know you will rock your Sr. year! Muah!!!

Okay I’m just biased, duh, but she should totally model for GAP. Thank you very much!
This one is my favorite because this is her true smile, filled with sweetness, kindness and all the other wonderful nesses you could think of.

Elijah. Back-to-School. Grade 1.

I know, I know, it’s only August, but…the 2012-2013 school year is here! Like all eager beavers, when I was little, I loved school shopping. Jansport backpack, check. Hello Kitty lunch pail and pencil case, check. Plaid, satin, and jersey bows, double check. Awe yes, the smell of a brand new eraser and leather oxfords still gives me chills. As I recollect the little things that made my heart go pitter patter, I know deep down inside students are also anticipating entering a new classroom and/or meeting their new teacher for the first time.

I created a Back-to-School theme photo shoot for a very good friend’s son. Elijah is entering first grade. His mommy is a talented local artist and teacher, so I knew she would love the school-themed photo shoot. Elijah enjoys traveling with his mommy, Dodgers and dressing-up.  I wanted to make this school theme look authentic so I hunted down a vintage school desk, used real powder-everywhere kinda chalk to write some of Elijah’s favorite things on my new magnetic chalkboard wall. I’m sure ya’ll are thinking to yourselves, why more school pictures when kids take them during the year? Well, as a teacher, I know the creativeness of school-produced photos are a big BLAH! In elementary school its the same backgrounds year after year and they aren’t personalized to each child except with the typical US flag, garden or beach backdrop options. I wanted fun and festive, while also creating a space where students can show and tell more about themselves. So, ten years from now, parents can look at these photos and know exactly what their child liked and what grade they were entering.

Good luck at your new school Elijah! I know you are going to hit a home run there!!!

I’ll have my school-themed studio out for the month of August and September, so if you are interested please just email or FB me:)

Boy’s boat shoes are totally adorable. Good job, mama!

See, totally personalized! This one is also my personal favorite:)
Elijah is such a good listener, but he can also get silly…and I loved it!

Zion Bleu. 9 Month Photo Session.

…beautiful, beautiful, Zion. Say hello to Zion Blue. He is the youngest of five, and the four eldest are all girls. Yes, I think this vibrant smile bumped dad off of the throne at home. His proud mama wanted to share her son’s growing smile with a nine-month photo session. She went all out for this little guy. Zion’s mama, Ange, envisioned three different types of themes to go with the western, vintage jet pilot, and Bob Marley outfits.  Ange and I brainstormed to find the perfect location for these creative ideas she had conjuring up in her head. Seriously, I love that Ange knew exactly what she wanted and prepared for her shoot. As you can see here, her ideas came to life and along with Zion’s great smile, the session looks pretty darn amazing. I can’t wait to see what she has in-store for his first birthday, which I am particularly excited for since I’m creating the photo booth. Eeeek!

Thank you Ange for allowing me to help you celebrate your baby boy’s ninth month of cuteness! Here’s a slideshow with more of Zion!Ange’s “Yee Haw” sign matched perfectly with the western backdrop. This was an authentic western location.I spy Bullseye in the back.Non-stop smiles from this stud.Look at you Zion Bleu. I just couldn’t resist rhyming:)Look at those chompers!
I found my favorite(s).
Zion’s parents are huge Bob Marley fans.
Hands.Toes.I think someone loves Bob now too.
