Zion. Photo Booth & 1st Birthday. Vintage Mod Mickey Mouse Theme.

Baby Zion isn’t a baby anymore, he’s officially a toddler. Yes, Zion Bleu’s nine month photo session seemed like only yesterday. Now this little mister is ready to take on the world. His mom and dad created the most memorable Mickey theme, full of bow ties, staches, and round ears. Zion’s mommy thought of every red and black Mickey detail imaginable. I mean her four girls were all mustache coordinated with red and white ruffles, along with some pretty rad red cowgirl boots. And…can you say baby swag? Zion wore mustache suspenders, along with a mustache beanie and shirt. Photo booth, Jumper, dessert table, and bubble show…umm I sort of wanted to be a kid again. All I can say is Zion’s parents can throw a serious party! Did I mention Zion’s parents do all of this with five adorable kiddies?

Happy Birthday Zion! You are as adorable as ever!!!

Some of the kids dressed with the theme. Have I ever mentioned I adore themed parties where you can dress up? Well, doesn’t everyone?
Willie Wonka doesn’t have anything on this set-up!
How fun are these balloons?
Zion is mesmerized by the bubble show.
No, the parents aren’t really this short. This photo booth was set-up specifically to cater the height of the little ones. Family love.Smash the cupcake time!

Apples. Glen Oaks Farm. Personal.

For the first two weeks of September, my lil bear (a.k.a. my son) and I spent the mornings learning, discussing, and playing with apples and the color red. I am blessed to have the opportunity to homeschool my toddler. Besides our mommy-and-me classes on Mondays, we spend three days out of the week “playing school.” Since the first two weeks were dedicated to apples, what better way to wrap up the lesson then to take a field trip? This adventure allowed us to use ALL of our senses while visiting Riley’s Farm in Glen Oaks, which is “gorge-e-ous!” You name it, and the hidden community had it. Everything from apple picking (of course), to hay rides, archery lessons, apple pressing, and so much more. I’m telling ya, if you want to spend a day in what feels like the country, then head on over to Riley’s. We only had time to enjoy 2 hours there and didn’t even get to taste their famous apple pie. Whaaa (my fault, I had a photo session after). My little family and I are definitely going back (maybe even this winter) because it snows there. I know, right? Magical! Hope you enjoy our little adventure and it inspires you to do something hands-on with your family too!

Oh ya, seriously this is an amazing location for a photo session. For-reals! Lol, I know that’s a made up saying, but it’s fun to say. Here’s the deal. All of the trees that had a ribbon attached to it were ripe and okay to pick. Glad they told us that before hand, or then my applesauce would have been tasting like those candies you used to eat in Jr. High, Sour Apple lollipops.
Our first stop was a quaint little farm with the cutest country feel. Complete with a southern-style white two-story house, a red barn, and a fat old pig out back.“Toss the worm-holed apples in the crates please. We don’t want them to go to waste,” said the ranch owner. Umm…if you mean won’t go to waste by feeding the wormed-apples to the pigs then okay. Well at least I hope that’s there plan. EwwwOf course he loved touching the “bad” apples. Ay, little boy!Caught red handed!Love. This was the second location, which was much much larger then the first. That meant more photo ops! Yay!Seriously, I love him…but when I was potty training him this week I just had to keep reminding myself of how his cute face looks when he’s not driving me up the walls. I’m thinking….thanks to these photos, he is now successfully potty trained. . Ha! Ya, ya, ya! He is just too silly for words. Can you tell he’s a photographer’s son?
I love this story board the best.Boys can dress up too!
“Dada” working hard for our hand pressed apple cider. Seriously the best cold apple cider I’ve tasted and I love me some apple cider. The end!

Arlene M. Cordoba. Professional Photo Session.

“All the women who independent, throw your hands up at me. All the honey’s who makin’ money, throw your hands up at me.” I know, I know, but I couldn’t resist shouting out this Destiny’s Child’s anthem, which couldn’t be anymore perfect for my friend, Arlene. In a perky and bubbly tone she would always say “hey gurrl,” and I would respond with a slightly less confident, “hey.” But, that’s Arlene, very self-assured and personable. So, it doesn’t surprise me that she’s made more than a name for herself. She’s ventured out into the hustle and bustle world of law, and is paving the way with her two pointed black velvet BCBG pumps. Not only does Arlene rock the courthouse with her excellent education from UCI and La Verne Law, her glamorous style and latin sizzle give her counter arguments extra pizazz. Arlene currently works for the woman, that’s right my girl has her own firm where she specializes in family law.

After knowing and keeping a friendship with Arlene for over ten years now, I’m still honored that she chose me to help her spread her pretty professional face around town. I wasn’t nervous at all because if anyone knows Arlene, even just as an acquaintance, then you would know that she makes any situation fabulous. I knew we would have fun, but it was my first “professional/business” type session and I didn’t want the results to come out looking like something from a cheesy 1990’s photo for a Larry H. Parker ad (No offense Larry). I decided to take a more sophisticated approach, which Arlene nailed with her beautiful, yet “I’m gonna put a smack down on you” in court girly swag.

I wish you nothing but love and success for your business gurrl! Congratulations!
How gorgeous does she look, and how cool is her office building? Right!
This one is my favorite. You are totally giving the look that I was talking about!
You are just fierce here and I love it!
Absolutely gorgeous, I tell ya!Okay, so she thought she was showing a little too much cleave here, but I still think she’s just working it!Go on with your bad self!

Mateo. Baptism. Los Angeles Baptism Photographer.

In the Catholic church, a baptism is the first sacrament that one receives as an introduction into their faith. Mateo, almost nine months, was blessed with the holy spirit on one the of the hottest days of this year. Although, the temperature hit well over a hundred degrees that day I’m sure he was as cool as a cucumber because he received blessings numerous times with sacred oils and holy water. Also, his sweet little white ensamble surely bounced that heat right off of him. No matter how hot the inside of St. Linus’ Church got that morning, Mateo’s parents were overjoyed with gratitude to watch their second child also grow in the Catholic faith.

Congratulations Mateo! You sure are a cutie-pa-tootie! More from Mateo’s Baptism.

I don’t think Mateo’s too sure about all this oily stuff they are dabbing on his head. Maybe he’s thinking, ” Are they basting me, because I sure could cook like a chicken in this weather.”
Aw, the proud parents.I’m sure he was thinking, “I thought I was done?” After getting dipped, he continued to get more blessings. The proud godparents and family.
This reminds me when my mom used to dress my sister and I like twins…except we were a whole three years apart. It looks much cuter on these brothers.Kisses for grandpa. &  Mateo’s big brother knew how to get the party started right. These last two images are my favorite. On the left Mateo’s grandmother is holding him, and on the right it’s his great-grandmother.

Nana. Remembering. Personal.

“I’m not funny. What I am is brave.” -Lucille Ball.

Unlike Lucille Ball, from I Love Lucy, one of my nana’s favorite shows, my nana did admit she was funny. However, she would say, “I just tell it like it is that’s why you think it’s funny.” And unlike Lucille Ball, she never admitted she was brave, but she was.

She was brave her entire 92 years of life.

For those that knew and loved her you also knew her entire life story. So, I don’t have to prove to you how this little old lady from Albuquerque was brave until the day she left us.

Vanessa. Bridal Shower Photo Booth.

Bridal showers are fun, period. It’s a party to celebrate the last weeks of being a single gal. And who wouldn’t like to get celebrated for being single? Vanessa had no problem letting her friends and family adorn her with gifts as she ends her single hood. A 50’s inspired bridal shower was given in honor of Vanessa at her parent’s home. The shower was complete with bright true red and light turquoise color scheme . It was simple yet chic, and I loved it. What makes a bridal shower even better? Well, a photo booth with matching props. Vanessa will soon be married and become one with her fiancé this October. But for now, this photo booth was all about her!

Congratulations Vanessa! You are “one cool chick!” (I was trying to keep it retro:)…and very pretty too!
Yes, the signs had painted wooden spoons as the handles. So 50’s, right? We had to get a photo of dad in here before all the pink frills and lace started popping out of boxes.

Elijah. Back-To-School. Grade 5.

Meet Elijah. He will be in fifth grade this year. He reminds me of a very very young Jake Ryan. And if you don’t know what movie  this actor is from then I’m not sure you can keep reading my post. Just kidding…well what can I say they only made the best cult movies in the 80’s!  As you will see in this series of photos, Elijah has a serious modelesque look, and then he gets really silly and becomes your adorably cute fifth grader. If it was only that easy for the rest of us.

Elijah must be a popular name because this is my second Back-To-School session with a boy named Elijah. Both Elijahs are pretty awesome. Yup, I think I just might have to consider this name for my next child (well when I get pregnant and if it’s a boy) because both were very handsome, super sweet, and incredibly well behaved. And, I’m sure both Elijahs are excellent students as well.

Watch out Elijah’s mama, here comes your boy’s swoon-worthy good looks followed by fifth grade girl hormones.

It’s gotta be the hair!
My favorite.
Now, this is what a fifth grade boy really looks like! Okay here he goes again throwing in his Jr. GQ looks, so I had to balance it out with my favorite silly one.

Christine & Van. Engagement.

By high school, these two kids had their hearts throbbing for one another. I’m sure you could practically see their love bulging out of their freshly pressed polo shirts, pink for her, and white for him.  Christine or “Kitty” as her friends like to call her, and Van met and then fell in love during their teens. Like if the intense late night studying wasn’t enough attending respective all-girls and an all-boys school surely would have pulled them apart, but cupid struck them hard. Christine and Van made it last. They continued to court all throughout college.  These sweethearts both attended and graduated from Cal Poly Pomona. As they began their careers they continued to foster their love for each other.

Last Thanksgiving, Christine and Van celebrated being thankful for their families, like they do every year, and also their growing love. It just so happened that  Thanksgiving 2011 landed on their anniversary. After staying up all night from cooking a feast for her family, Christine was a bit delirious and needed a break from all the festivities. Van stole her away for a bit and their little adventure had them walking around downtown Los Angeles until they ended up at Pershing Square.  They were about to get escorted out by security when Van insisted that they have their picture taken. As the guard was going to snap their photograph, Christine could see her love, Van, starting to bend down. Instead of jumping to conclusions, as most of us girls would have done, Christine in her delirious state thought the obvious, he has to tie his shoe. But of course, when she looked down, he was on one knee with the prettiest ring in his hand.

Kitty and Van, clearly you two are meant for each other. I’m so excited to showcase the love that you shared during your engagement photos and I can’t wait to capture this and more on your wedding day! Congratulations xoxo. Here’s some more of their engagement shoot. Her lipstick…a must have!
I love the color of their outfits! I think I might just have to grab a pair of Van’s kicks for my hubby.
His look says it all…ya she’s gorgeous!
Found my favorite. You look stunning Kitty. I also love the warmth of the color from this sunny summer afternoon.
