Eloise. Newborn. {Session Two}. Los Angeles Newborn Photography.

My sweet love. She was planned, but was a complete surprise. We knew we were going to add another addition to our family, it was just a matter of when. The moment I looked down and read those two pink lines I was overcome with happiness and then quickly started to research “E” boy names. Most couples that I know or knew of (instagram) that had their boy first usually  were blessed with another one right after. I was mentally prepared to welcome little spunky E numero two. Wowzas were we surprised when the ultrasound tech laid the “g” word on us. BUT, she then went on to tell us that our pretty little girl was a bit shy. She wouldn’t open her legs all the way. The tech was still only 99% accurate that our second child’s sex was female. Ugggh! I’m the kinda gal that likes certainty, needs routine, and is a planner to the max. So, when I heard 99% you might as well have said a big fat zero. I couldn’t rest, I couldn’t come up with girl names, or even so much as look at anything pink at Target. We checked again, and again. Yes, ladies and gentlemen I checked until someone said I was, without a doubt, having a girl. But guess what? Since the last couple of looks weren’t 100% I still couldn’t sleep right. My family convinced me that my baby was definitely going to be a pretty little lady and I should start thinking of names, decorating her nursery and yada, yada. I did, but kept tags on almost everything. I know, that was a little much, but I wanted to be able to exchange everything (if I needed to). I prayed to God over and over again, not for a girl but for our baby’s health and both of our safety during delivery.

The moment of truth came when my midwife encouraged me to push one last time. I grunted, slowly opened my eyes and smiled, while whispering, “she is a girl, she’s a girl and a healthy one.” We were both healthy and safe and that is all I could have ever wanted…being able to tie bows and dress my daughter up in pinks and golds is just icing on the cake. God is great and has blessed us beyond words.

Here is session two. Every session that I post was taken over several days.

Eloise. 3 Days New. {Session One} Los Angeles Newborn Photography.

Eloise

August, 12, 2013

7 lbs. 13 oz.

20 in.

Hello world, meet the newest member of our family. God blessed us on Monday, August 12th with our pretty pretty princess. We are so in love!

Over the next couple of weeks I will post a series of newborn photos. These are a few samples of my Fall 2013 newborn collection, which include various colors, head pieces, tutus, wraps, and baskets. For this first session I used different colored blankets, headpieces (for girls), and wraps. Although this is a girl’s newborn session I do now have a variety of boy blankets, hats and beanies, and wraps.

To get this ooey gooey sleepy goodness newborns should have their photos taken anywhere from birth to ten days of their squishy little lives. They are sleepier, more bendable, and  can fit into pretty much any bin before they get their first real growth spurt. I am more than willing to take newborn photos of your adorable son or daughter up to three weeks old, but you might not get the same amount of  images and variety of looks. Please come back and visit to see session two (baskets and backgrounds) and session three (sibling photos).

Baby Girl Nursery. Welcome to the World. Personal.

Someone pinch me please! Our baby girl’s “Welcome to the World” nursery has just been featured on another popular baby blog. I feel honored and proud that I reached one of my baby photography goals–to get featured on the top three baby blogs, Grey Likes Baby, Onto Baby, and now 100 Layer Cakelet.

Eloise’s nursery was inspired by my baby shower theme as well as my Mexican heritage. I loved incorporating all sorts of goodies from various places in the world, especially Mexico. Just like our baby shower, the colors that flowed through the room were shades of pinks, hues of coral and lots of glittery golds. If you want to find out where I gathered all of these girly girl items just scroll down and take a look!

Welcome To The World Baby Shower + Maternity Leave. Personal.

Hola, Ciao, Aloha…Come and take a peek at the “Welcome to the World” themed baby shower for my sweet baby girl. Simple and sweet was sort of my motto in the decoration aspect of things.  The color pallet I used included very girly pink hues, some coral, and even more glittery gold. I love any sort of arrow or chevron pattern so that was also another running them in the decor. Guests enjoyed food from around the world like, Japanese Sushi as an appetizer, Greek Salad, Italian Fetteccuni and Mexican Red Enchiladas. Desserts were also very worldly, which included sweet treats from Greece, France, the Philippines, and the good ole USA. You know how they say, “You are who you hang with?” Well, I’m so glad this is proving to be true in my case because I have some extremely talented, creative, and helpful friends that offered their services to help bring my baby shower ideas to life. My friends contributed with everything from baked goods, to the elaborate floral centerpieces. I adore anything handmade so for two of the games I had guest literally decorate over three dozen wooden baby hangers with printed fabric that I purchased at one of my favorite stores, Michael Levins in DTLA. Guests also competed to make the cutest and prettiest headbands. Yes, my daughter is going to wear a bow or headband everyday of her baby and toddler life (I’m a slave for fashion). As anyone knows it’s always a rush to the finish line when trying to set-up an event. I tried my best to photograph as many details as possible, but it was kinda impossible because I really wanted to be the hostess with the mostest instead of the “photographer” for my own shower. So, thank you Nea, for also helping out with some of the photography. I hope you do enjoy the little bits and pieces that I was able to capture.

Now it’s time for me to just wait…….and wait for the arrival of our baby girl. Pretty soon our party of three will become a family of four! Until then, I will be on maternity leave from now until late September.

I will still answer inquiries and send out contracts for this coming fall. Like always my October is already getting booked, but this year I am looking forward to taking lovely photos during the week as well!

Please keep my family and I in your prayers!

Hugs,

Evie

Here are all of my beautiful friends that either baked, designed, photographed, or helped set-up. Love you all to pieces!

Kristin + Abraham. Married. Old Orange County Courthouse Photographer.

Although Kristen dislikes coffee, she agreed to meet Abraham for an initial coffee date. They knew they were kindred spirits as anything and everything they spoke about on this first outing made them want to dive deeper into the conversation, which made them realize that their shared passion to know more was going to provide them with some amazing life experiences. After this relationship continued to sprout into love, Abraham had the cutest proposal on Christmas Eve. Kristin had just returned from a trip abroad with sixty plus students and was in much need of some rest and relaxation. So they started that evening off pretty calm by going to his parents’ home to open gifts. Abraham’s father was a bit anxious maybe even just as much as his son, and like a true child on Christmas Day, he kept on asking when it was time to open gifts. After waiting for what must have seemed like an eternity to Abraham, he was down on one knee in front of the Christmas Tree. After an extendedly excited and nervous silence, Abraham finally erupted with the big question. Wow, what a Christmas gift…a pretty ring for the pretty lady and a new and exciting future for both Kristin and Abraham.

Kristin arrived at Old Orange County Courthouse in all smiles and was dressed to take Abraham’s breath away in a lovely white wedding gown. She was holding a delicate bouquet and wearing an exquisitely detailed pair of cobalt blue heels with white embroidery on the sides (I know, I wanted a pair too). He was polished from head to toe looking like the perfect match for his gorgeous bride. Together with their immediate family and friends, they pronounced their love for each other. It was a beautiful day to document the joining of their two families and witnessing the love they share. I was very lucky indeed to be able to keep all of these memories alive for them by freeinge each and every frame of their love.

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Palomares!

How could this one not be my favorite? Love it!

Oh Kristin, you are just lovely! They had a little fun with the posing here.
They are ready to attend the ball!
Although the dancing pose may seem overused, I just love it because each and every couple has their own “spin” and lets all their emotion show. My second favorite because you are just so darn cute Kristin!

Gabriela + Joel. Maternity. Orange County Maternity Session.

It must be something in the water. So many beautiful bellies are carrying baby girls. Gabriela and Joel will be expecting their first child, a sweet daughter, early this October. I have learned that with most mamas-to-be having a girl brings the not so lovely…long morning sickness months. Poor Gabriela had about four grueling months of all-day nausea. I’m sure she is glad those days are over. Although those first months must have been difficult, Gabriela only exudes a gorgeous pregnancy glow now. As for their bebe, Gabriela and Joel haven’t decided on any name but are set on a top five, which are all very classic and sweet choices (Thought I was going to spill the beans, huh!). Please let me know what you guys choose because I’m dying to know. Even before this session Gabriela won my heart with the pretty coral dresses she chose to wear. Then later she told me she was going to have a light-pink and yellow circus themed baby shower. Now, you know that’s going to be pretty darn adorable.

Gabriela and Joel’s maternity session was a gift from a previous client. How special is that? Spending time with this happy couple just confirmed why they were given this gift. Gabriela is as sweet as pie and Joel had us all entertained. Yes, us…we were joined by Gabriela’s fabulous make-up artist, Norma and their cousin who helped out with their first babies, two fierce looking but really gentle doggies.

Congratulations you two! You guys are going to be awesome parents!

This first one just screams my favorite!
I’m kinda obsessed with her bump. It really looks so perfectly round in this pretty maxi dress. The whole family! They are really all bark and no bite, well at least with me:)
So we have been having weird summer mini-storms and it was raining off and on throughout the day. I asked them to bring an umbrella for the weather and maybe as a prop. We used it for a couple of photos and it came out so cute! Yay, for our baby “shower” prop.
My second favorite. I love the playful intimacy here!Your eyes just bring the camera in…gorgeous mama!
Such a handsome couple! This one is melting my heart.Your giggle is too cute here!Work it mama! It’s like the quiet before the storm. They portray such peace here.

Josiah. Five Years Young. Orange County Child Photographer.

Happy 5th Birthday to Josiah on July 23rd. This kid has got spunk! He loves a plethora of things like trucks, reading, Sponge Bob, yellow, red, purple, and sweet & sour candy. One of his favorite activities to do is dance Salsa. Aye aye aye! He can shake his little bum for sure. Kindergarten teacher, watch out because I don’t know what new thing you can teach this curlicued ray of sunshine. I mean look at his smile. Someone get this kid on the Disney channel. His mommy wanted to document year number five in his life and I couldn’t have had more fun helping out, especially when we were acting like crazy ladies trying to have him swing from a make shift monkey bar. Well, happy five digits to you kiddo! See what I mean, so ready for Kinder…if not even first!
This little combo is my favorite! He has the cutest grin!Even his jumping is cute! Rockin’ out!Second favorite because he was a bit shy showing me his dancing skills, but once he got warmed up this was the result….Oh my goodness!

Monica, David and Baby Liam. Family. Los Angeles Family Photographer.

I’ve been feeling really blessed, in all aspects of my life but particularly in my work, lately. I continue to meet and photograph some simply sweet, beautiful and totally trusting families. Monica, David and Baby Liam were definitely a carefree and loving family. This gorgeous fam was picture perfect! Monica had contacted me because she wanted to get her four-month old son Liam some pictures before he got any older. She didn’t have the time to take his newborn photos because she had a tough C-section delivery and wasn’t ready. Now, I’m not going to fib around, but a four month old has outgrown the newborn stage look but is not old enough to sit so the variety of positions you can place a four-month old can be limited if they are just on their own. During a photo session, (I think) it is so important to just go with the flow from both the photographer’s end and those being photographed. If you are relaxed, happy, and ready to have fun with the session it will show. I guess that’s my best advice (not like anyone was asking but hey why not throw it out there) for anyone in front of an iPhone, point and shoot, or professional photographer. Just “Chill-ax”. Sorry for sidetracking, but I’m just so glad Monica and David agreed to hop on in the session because they all looked so adorable as a family of three.

Liam’s Swag:

Blue tie, blue overalls, loafers: Janie & Jack

White shirt: Jacadi

Brown shorts & newsboy cap: Janie & Jack

Bare buns: Liam (lol)

Little Liam had just woken up from his nap, but he posed like a champ!
Love your Zara dress Monica, just love!Okay right off this is my favorite! Yes ladies and gentlemen he is only four months and almost half the size of Monica’s petite frame.
Second favorite. It reminds me of Alice in Wonderland for some reason.Cracked a smile!Oh so serious, but darling.Baby gums.Is he teething already? I think he’s created his own perfect pacifier.Rolls on rolls on rolls! Love me some baby chub!
