Whoever came up with the old adage; “There are plenty of fish in the sea,” was totally correct. They met exactly that way, well kinda. Cindy and Herman got introduced through the popular online dating site, Plenty of Fish. After a few dates, I’m sure they discussed anything and everything to do with either history (she’s the buff) or fish (he’s a port agent) as they fell for one another. This was all back in March 2011. Two years later they secretly wed on September 14th in Long Beach. It was that simple and just as easy going as them. They like trying new food trucks, she loves his hands and he loves her legs. They enjoy hiking (hence the beautiful backdrop that they found for this session) and she loves that he always lets her win. They told me they aren’t really the kind for picture taking so when Cindy asked me to take photos to document their love, I think I was more excited then them. I’ve known Cindy for a while now because she works as a high school Math teacher and tennis coach with my husband. She just loves sharing the most random yet interesting history facts. She’s awesome at Trivial Pursuit and is also one of those people that is funny because she tells it like it is. Personally I would never get into a political, historical or trivia based argument with this pretty lady. I’m serious…she went to Cal, so you know she knows her “ish.” Herman, you always let her win, eh? Well played my friend! These two are going to live happily ever after especially since Herman just goes with the flow and well…he really does complete her. Did I mention he built his own fishing boat? So, when can we take it out to Catalina? Congratulations you two!
My fave because they are so into each other right here and it shows…chooow (that’s a lil ghetto Mexican holler-hee he)
What parents could ever imagine that after their first child their hearts would be big enough to love another one just the same? It’s true. I have this conversation all the time with parents expecting their second child. How about double the love with twins? Well, just like breathing, it comes natural (Now, I know from experience). Cassie and her husband were blessed not once, not twice, but thrice with adorable pretty little ladies. Right away I could tell that they had perfected spreading the love and attention by their calm nature and easy going manner of interacting with these pretties. Their eldest daughter, four-year-old Abigail, made my heart go pitter patter while observing how she was a tender and sweet big sister. Although the twins were very calm themselves, I probably had made goo-goo gaga faces at them a million times to make one laugh. As soon as one started smiling, the other stopped and just like that I became a professional performing street monkey. Let’s just say that hanging around them was like getting a natural dose of Botox. Yup, my face muscles definitely thanked me for the workout that afternoon. After all of the laughs and giggles I think these three cuties tired us all out. Congratulations McCarty family! You have an adorable trio, which makes you a perfect party of five! This one is my favorite. Something about when a mother looks lovingly at her children makes me melt…and want to squeeze my own babies.
‘Tis the season to smile!
Again, I had the honor to photograph Nea, from Laced Bliss and Love, and her family for their annual Holiday photos. They are my kinda people; funny, sweet, and they know how to work the camera. Check out all the handsome fellas they got going on in the Mueller family. And I thought I got a work out chasing after my son…..no wonder all these ladies look fabulous. Seriously, who needs a workout when you have boys to chase after. Hee he! Then you have the only granddaughter and she’s just a beauty. She was so cute especially when she kept on whispering to me to take different types of photos of her. Can I keep her? By the way please notice all the fabulous flower headpieces the gals are rocking’. The flowers were designed and created by the fabulous Laura, from Instyle Blooms and makeup from the talented, Rachel. Umm, hello is it still summer? The way the sun was setting that evening gave off the most delicious warm glow.
Salsa dancing brought them together but this little handsome guy created their family of three. Elizabeth and Jose Luis met one night for a friend’s birthday party when he asked her to dance. They fell in love and traveled from their native Minnesota to California and begin their lives together. After they wed, Jose Louis (of Mexican decent) and Elizabeth (of Korean decent) gave birth to their adorable son, Samuel. They sure made a cute little combo! This family wanted to recognize their love, Samuel, by documenting his big ONE year birthday. So, they did this with a family photo session with a little extra emphasis on the birthday boy.
The “S” in Samuel must really stand for smile because besides my own son (partly because I trained him so early …hee hee), I’ve never seen such a smiley baby boy. The only work I had to do was make sure mom and dad were smiling. Ha! In some of the images below you’ll see that this sweetie pie is almost ready to start walking on his own. Then that’s when the real fun begins. Run parents, run! Oh and did I mention that Samuel has the most awesome birthdate? Let’s just wish Sammy boy a Happy Halloween and Happy Birthday!
This one is my favorite. How could anyone resist pinching those cheeks?!
Could you believe that we had this gorgeous maternity session at the beach in October? Yup, sure did. Although Arlene is going to have a true fall baby, due in November, we had what seemed to be a very hot summer maternity session. I’m telling you I was wrapped from head-to-toe in fall attire. It was like Wham! As soon as we started Arlene and Anthony’s maternity sesh, it went from being as crisp as a cucumber to hot as a red tamale. Lucky for them they were dressed weather appropriate in cool summer whites. Boy oh boy did Arlene look stunning. Something about whites and creams always make for a pretty picture. An extra added bonus to Arlene’s loviness was her gorgeous eyes. I wonder if Anthony also has the recessive gene? Those would be some amazing eyes on their future baby bundle!
They met in high school and their love is still as strong as it was then, and is growing now that they have baby number one on his way. Throughout the morning, Arlene and I chatted away talking a little about this and that, you know the basics. It turns out that I have a lot in common with this beauty. We both attended an all-girl high schools, just have sisters, and the best is that she’s also a Trojan! Fight on! Yes, Arlene gets down with her bad self and is actually getting her MBA, from USC, as I type. That just means that future baby Anthony is going to be one good looking guy and a smarty too! “Daddy Anthony” was a little shy, but he did mention to me how excited he was to introduce his little man to fun, fun, fun, like his favorite sports!
Congratulations Arlene and Anthony! I can’t wait to see what your little feisty (mama says he’s very active already) guy looks like.
Sometimes you can tell people are in love by the way they speak to one another. Other times it’s the way they touch. With Vicky and Eduardo, it’s all in the way she gazes deep into his eyes and how he, as nervous as a twelve year old boy, smiles back. During their engagement session these tender moments and glances gave their images so much peaceful beauty. I witnessed this love pouring out on their wedding day as well. Vicky batted her gorgeous eyes and Eduardo fell deeper and deeper into her spell. I know this love oozed out into the hearts of their guests as well because their friends and family continued to bare gifts of love and hugs throughout the afternoon and into the evening. With so much love that surrounded them, like almost 300 guests worth of love, somehow they seemed to give each person their individual attention and also at times acted as if they were the only two on the dance floor.
They married and the reception followed at, Heritage Park in Santa Fe Springs. I’ve had photo sessions at this park before, but it was a pleasant surprise seeing it set up for a wedding because it has a variety of eclectic areas with everything from a mini orange grove to a large hay hut. I never imagined a wedding here until the lovely set-up on Vicky and Eduardo’s wedding day.
It was such a beautiful wedding. I was lucky to document it all! Congratulations Vicky and Eduardo! You two are amazing people and couldn’t have been sweeter to work with! I hope you are having a blast in Seattle!
I’m in love and in awe. Olivia, (as her parents call her) has been just as adorable since before she was even born. I’ve photographed this pretty thang when she was in her mama’s belly, just a wee newborn, and now as this precious one year old. Seriously, I love what I do!
For Smash sessions I allow the parents (usually the mamas) to come up with the theme or concept. Erica (Olivia’s mommy) said mermaid. I said fantabulous! We went from there and well you will just have to scroll down to see. Just like her maternity session with all the outfit changes, she brought out the cuteness for this one too.
Olivia posed like a model. No, like a real model with very sophisticated looks at first. Then after a little warming up and some pearls to gnaw on she let loose. We got our smiles! Don’t be fooled by her dreamy eyes and luxurious lashes, she’s got beauty and brains. Olivia is already babbling lot of words and understands both English and Spanish. Aye, que bonita!
My favorite! Now I know what they mean when they say, “What a doll face!”
