Their love is one that will truly last forever. Omir and Vanessa are the type of couple that everyone wants to be around because they are “funzies”, passionate for each other, and have a flirty cool fashion style that everyone always tries to imitate (yep even me). I love my sister whole heartedly so when Omir, my fiancé in law (hee hee), came to ask my advice on the biggest moment of his life, I excitedly obliged. Like a typical Aries, I tried to plan out every detail for him because my sister, also an Aries, doesn’t deserve anything better then the best. Plus, she’s so sneaky that we literally had to have secret convos on Facebook so she wouldn’t find out what we had up our sleeves.
It all started with the ring. Vanessa is a romantic at heart and loves many things vintage, like myself (duh we are sisters). I knew she wanted something antique looking…something like our Nana’s 1940’s uber classic engagement ring. Omir and I were both on the hunt. He would send me a picture and I would give him a thumbs up or “what the heck are you thinking?” responses back. About a month ago, he found the most perfect-delicate diamond ever. I knew she was going to swoon. Ring-Check! Then came the hard part…planning out the perfect moment to pop-pop-pop the big question. We decided it would be too obvious for him to just propose during my Holiday minis so we had to be a bit more creative.
The night before the photo session, Omir took Vanessa to a quaint little restaurant in LA and then out to view the stars at the Griffith Park Observatory. Yes, how romantical (I know it’s a made up word, but its also from a movie). Now, if you were a girl expecting to get proposed to soon, wouldn’t you think it would be under the moonlight? Ha! No proposal (I know, we are ruthless). Anyhow, that threw her off and so the next morning she looked all extremely gorgeous, not expecting anything…and BAM it was time for that sparkly ring to make its appearance.
Of course nothing turns out exactly as planned, so when I distracted Vanessa (as you will notice in one of the photos where Omir is hiding in the back) instead of him waiting for her to sit back down on the couch, he got down on his knee faster then I could say “Bob’s your uncle.” I was running around him snapping away as many of these priceless moments as I could get. I think they were both so wound up with emotion that neither one of them said a thing, for what seemed like the longest five minutes ever. After they gained their composure he whispered so sweetly the words every girl longs to hear, and she replied with a tender, “Yes.”
I am still so overwhelmed with happiness because I witnessed my sister get engaged and be the one to help them keep these memories alive forever, by being their photographer. Thank you a million times over Vanessa and Omir. I love you both and wish you the most amazing experiences that are yet to come.
