Book find: My thoughtful and inspiring Cotsen mentor bought us fellows this mindfulness guide and journal, which is so perf for me and my busy life. I’m currently reading two other books whenever I find time (aka 5 min before bed) but I can’t wait to start this in the summer. Swipe and take a peek. If you’re like me and don’t have time but would like to journal and start a mindfulness journey, for a summer goal, you can find this in the link in my profile. *** also who guessed Popo was having a Dodger bday ?????party? Well, he’s actually having both (Sandlot too ???) and I found these cute ice cream mini bowls on #amazon too! #amazonmoms #amazonprimemom

My First Turns 7!

Happy super 7th birthday to the one who made me a mommy! He’s the light, my sweetness, and the first one to give me all the mama feels! I love him to the depths of the earth. This type of love just can’t be explained and I know it’ll always stay the same. #luckyseventhyear

Here’s what I ordered from Amazon:

Today we celebrated my love’s 7th birthday with a building/Lego/ engineering/ 7 theme ? he couldn’t decide so I tried my best to incorporate it all!

I’m not a party planner but I do love to let my creative juices flow at my kid’s birthday parties. #itsanegthangparty is where you can see all the madness I put together every other year and some of the smaller family ones in between.

This shirt was supposed to arrive for his birthday, but didn’t come in time. It kinda worked out because I barely made it in taking his birthday photos before his birthday was over. Thank you for all of his birthday wishes! ?This is 7?? #iphonepictures

Thank you to all our family and friends (not all pictured because I was busy running around even too busy to take any pics ?) for celebrating this special 7th birthday for our first born. Birthday parties this year, next year we rest! ?#everyotheryearparties #engineeringbirthdayparty #legobirthdayparty #seventhbirthdayparty #couldntmakeuphismindonatheme

Generations | Family

This family is dear to my heart for so many reasons which all started over 10 years ago.

My first teaching job is where I worked along side the woman, mom and lola (grandmother) that holds this family together. She’s got more creativity in her pinky finger then I have in my whole body. Although lola’s retired she continues to teach and care for her adorable grandchildren. Yes, they are beyond blessed to have her in their lives.

Lolo (grandpa in Tagalog) puts the “h” in hustle and “s” in sweet! He’s the best of both worlds, which is why everyone loves him dearly. His smile and warmth welcomes all into his heart and home.

This generation session made my heart melt over like a good piece of cheese oozing out of a quesadilla. Not only are they my clients, but friends that have become family. I couldn’t have chosen a better session to get back into the blogging game. My New Year’s Eve resolution  so far has gotten started on the right foot! Personally I think all family’s need to take a generation session at LEAST every five years. I mean especially if you’ve got new babes, growing kiddos …and well do you really need an excuse to get together and share a couple of smiles with your family?

Paola & Nick | Maternity

I’m back…yes I’ve taken more than a little hiatus from this blogging life. Not from photography, at all, I think it was actually the fact that I had so much photography work (which is always a good thing-scratch that- except for my blog) that I didn’t have enough time for blog posts. Well enough of my semi-explanation let’s take a look at my most recent maternity session.

Meet Paola and Nick. Isn’t it so interesting how this world is so small, especially in this “social media” one where we think someone might be worlds aways but you could just bump into them at your local Target (insert emoji of woman with one hand lifted sideways). Well, that sort of happened here, sort of. My husband and Nick (father-to-be) went to high school together. We met and the three of us hung out one night in our town. Years later Paola (mommy-to-be) finds my feed through a friend’s post and voíla we are here documenting all of her belly’s beauty.

Paola and Nick are so excited for the arrival of their baby, who’s due in late August. And…I can’t wait to meet their little one because yup they booked me for their Newborn session as well. Bring on the baby fever. Just kidding, I only like to smell them now. Throughout the session these two were all over another giggling and teasing one another like they were newlyweds. It was so sweet I almost thought I was shooting their engagement session instead of their maternity. Yup you could say “all the feels” for this one!

Oh and check out Paola’s hair and dress…work it mama!

Luca | Newborn |Riverside Newborn Photography

Darling Lucia Camila was born on December 22nd, weighing in at 6lbs 4.3 oz. and 18.9 inches. Her mom and dad lovingly call her Luca for short. She may have been a ‘lil thang coming into this world, but when we met she already, according to her mother, had a rough and tough little ‘tude which apparently she got from her auntie. I loved it! It reminded me of my own daughter and I guess myself, shy at first and then we break out of our cocoon and become beautiful confident butterflies.

Her parents already adore her but told me in all honesty they were suffering by trying to keep up with her nocturnal sleeping patterns. Sound familiar? For me it totally does! After three kids I can kinda claim I’m an expert, right? Well, like the familiar 00’s phrase went, “You ain’t gotta lie to kick it!” Here’s the truth. My son didn’t sleep on his own in his own bed till he was two and a half. Yes, it was partly our fault being first time parents but we also didn’t realize that it was our lack of confidence that he could feel oozing out of our groins that made him insecure and want to sleep with us. Another reason why we failed was because we didn’t use the best baby sleeper in the world at that time, which was the Rock -n- Play. This was a life saver with my two other children. They slept in it like a bug in a rug because it snuggles them nice and cozy like they sleeping in arms. Plus new research show that all infants and babies, should sleep at an angle, so air can flow freely and they don’t choke on their spit. And my last bit of advice, which I got from another mom was to give your his last bottle, for the nigh,t as formula (if you are nursing which I did). Formula keeps them asleep longer because it is thicker and allows them to stay full unlike nursing which is thin and makes them hungry after a few hours. We used this method with our last and it worked wonders as well.  Hopefully these little tips help someone out there and of course Francisco and Janet.

Fransisco and Janet, as the saying goes, the days are long but the years are short. Enjoy each sleepless night because it will not be long before she’s grown and no long this teeny.

A Letter to My 6 Year Old Son | Personal

Dear Emmett,

Today you are six! That means six years ago today I held you for the first time ever. I kissed your sweet cheeks, snuggled your pudgy nose and looked at you in awe. Let me tell you a few things about your five-year-old self that I’ve come to adore.  You are the most un-shy and friendliest member of our family, which makes it easy for you to make friends where ever you are, this makes me feel so warm and fuzzy knowing that you have the confidence that sometimes I lack. You have always been the smiliest boy and everyone enjoys your happiness, kindness, and sweet-nartured heart. Since three you have been a builder, puzzle solver, and of course athlete. My favorite things about you right now is your love for playing soccer and challenging yourself to build bigger and better Lego models. I can’t believe you have your first loose tooth with the adult one growing right behind it. Hopefully you’ll get your daddy’s genes and not mine so you can have beautiful straight teeth. I’m so proud that you are well behaved at school, but… there’s always room for improvement at home (I’m just saying) and you are always so excited to pick up a new book from the library.  I could list a million and one things about you that I love right now, but my top two are your hair color, because it reminds me of the summer’s golden light, and the affection you show me on a daily basis -keep those kisses coming! Oh and one more, I love your excitement for the little things in life, like tonight when I snuggled in bed with you and you whispered with a smile, “Am I six yet?”

I can not wait to see what your six-year-old year has in store, until then…

I pray that I’ll always receive your tender hugs, gentle kisses, and extra snuggles while you are reading to me on the couch. I pray to God that we will be in each other’s lives so long that I need binoculars to see you receive diploma after diploma (scratch that who am I kidding I’ll be in the front) that I may dance with you to “Dear Mamma” (oh maybe two or three times because I’ll slip the DJ a bill) at your wedding, and watch us get gray hair and all wrinkly while we are on our annual family vacation. And if I am ever not there to hold your hand or kiss your tears away always know you can pray for me and I will be listening to you and praying right back for your smiles to return like when you were just a child and I held your tiny clammy hands in mine and whispered I love you more.

These are all of my favorite parts about you my love! 2017-02-22_0001

London | Newborn

Oh London you may have come into this world little but I know you are here to do big things! London was born a couple of months ago to first time mama, Pryscilla. Mommy and daddy couldn’t be more prepared and it definitely showed! Their new little trio was so perfectly calm during their newborn session that I was a little surprised this was their first time around. Even London slept so well in Pryscillas arms, then on their furry rug, and finally in his bed I was in newborn heaven. I was like, sheesh someone give this kiddo an award for best napper! I’m sure he’s going to make his parents really happy for a while, well until his teeth start coming in! (Ha, this is a veteran parent’s joke).

Oh and how clever is London’s mama? She made this felt letter board! I absofreakinlutley love it when my clients get their craft on and make items for their session. Rock on with your bad self mama! By the way can I get one in pink? lol

Well Happy “Birth”day baby boy! I know you are going to use all those zzzz to take on all of your big dreams!
